Lonely No More

The story, set in New York City in the colorful and constantly changing neighborhoods of Queens and Brooklyn, and the posh River House overlooking Sutton Place and the East River, links two desperate people, an alcoholic and a recovering addict.

Kevin Conroy, a lonely and brooding Vietnam veteran and dedicated police officer, achieves the rank of Inspector in the New York City Police Department only to have his career end in a disabling shootout with an Eastern European mob enforcer. In retirement, he careens into a useless life of drinking where he frequents some of New York’s legendary watering holes. Chance encounters in P.J. Clarke’s with a wealthy and beautiful recovering addict, and in Costello’s with a former subordinate of questionable character and a savvy investigative reporter drive the story about police corruption and New York’s emerging Eastern European mafia to its surprising conclusion.
